Celebrations at The Logistics Academy Graduation Ceremony 2019

Congratulations to TLA Graduates for their achievements!

This year’s TLA Graduation Ceremony was held on 30 October 2019 at PIXEL, an innovation space at One North. The graduands and their family members, lecturers as well as their employers were seen beaming at this happy occasion. The Academy shared their joy in reaping the sweet fruit of their labour.

Mr Thomas Sim - SLA 2nd Deputy Chairman and TLA Director in his welcome address, encouraged the graduands to equip themselves through continuous learning and personal development given the dynamics changes of the logistics industry.

It was timely to have Mr Abhilash Murthy – Founder, CEO of Bus Uncle Company to share interesting perspectives on “Because Robots Are People Too”.  Machines are becoming more "human" with the prevalence of conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI). This development will be applicable in a future where humans and machines can work together just by having conversations. TLA graduands are strongly encouraged to embrace new development and learnings to upkeep themselves to be skills future relevant.

Gathering from the sharing of the winners of the Best Achiever Award – Tan Wei Liang Stanley for Diploma in Integrated Logistics Management Programme (Jun 2018 Intake) and Leng May Yee for Diploma in International Freight Management (April 2018 Intake), the TLA training programmes have once again been established to be industry relevant.

Best Achiever – Diploma in Integrated Logistics Management Programme (Jun 2018 Intake)
“It had been a good experience for me in TLA. The lecturers shared their years of experience and knowledge with us. They made the evening classes interesting as it was not easy for us to stay attentive in class after a day of work.  The obstacle for me was time management in handling both studies and work. My work project group members sacrificed our weekends for group discussion. I had learned and gained better knowledge about logistics and also made new friends from different sector of the logistics industry. At times, we even shared our problems in work, and I could get ideas from my fellow classmates. Overall I enjoyed my time and learned from everyone in TLA learning journey.”

Leng May Yee, DST Lines Pte Ltd
Best Achiever – Diploma in International Freight Management (April 2018 Intake)
“To be awarded with the Best Achiever Award is such a great honour for me. My learning journey had been challenging but it is all worth it! Juggling my work and studies at the same time was certainly not easy. A big thanks to those who helped me over the past 14 months including my sponsoring company – Dawn Shipping Group, my HR Director who encouraged me to apply what I have learnt to my daily work. I want to thank my family, friends and colleagues who supported and bear with me during the absolutely challenging moments I faced during project work and examinations. Not forgetting the amazing TLA lecturers who shared so many practical experiences during our classes. They encouraged me to interact with my course mates and ask tough questions to them to gain more knowledge.”
