Project Showcase - Keppel Logistics Pte Ltd: Forklift Rear Wheel Stopper
On 24 September 2020, SLA had the upmost pleasure of meeting Team Challenger via Zoom. The project team shared how the organisation establishes and maintains a positive safety culture at the workplace through various initiatives. One notable initiative is the implementation of a positive reporting process by involving the workers’ feedback from the ground up.
The team identified that the uncovered rear wheel of their existing forklifts may potentially resulted in objects (e.g. footwear) to easily slip under or roll over during revering. The Forklift Rear Wheel Stopper, an engineering hazard control measure was implemented to act as a pusher and eliminate the possibility of footwear to slip under a rolling wheel. With this implementation, it resulted in the prevention of crushing hazards to happen and reduces the likelihood of another case of workplace incidents. This solution will hence make the warehouse a safer workplace and protects its staff from potential injury.
