Going International …

SLA participated at the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) General Meeting and ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) General Meeting which were held virtually for the first time on 7 and 17 December 2020 respectively.

FIATA General Meeting

Close to 200 participants gathered virtually to promote exchange of views on best practices amongst different association members. The General Meeting approved reports from the Presidency on 2019 activities and financial matters, as well as elected two new chairs for the FIATA Logistics Institute and Advisory Body on Safety and Security. Another noteworthy highlight included a keynote address by Mr Adam Roark, Worldwide Transportation and Logistics Industry Lead at Amazon Web Services, where he discussed topics impacting the supply chain. AFFA General Meeting

In view of the COVID-19 situation, the office bearers for the new Term 2020/2022 would remain at status quo with Mr Stanley Lim – SLA Chairman for Internationalisation Committee as AFFA Honorary Secretary. The deliberation also covered the proposed AFFA Standard Trading Conditions; proposal to amend the AFFA Constitution; commencement of the AFFA Logistics Institute; presentation of reports from the standing committees; and revision of the ASEAN Goods Vehicle Cross-Border Permit for cross border trucking across ASEAN countries.
