International Professional Certification Programmes - Second Series

Following the successful launch of the International Professional Certification programmes in February 2021, SLA together with The Logistics Academy and the CII Institute of Logistics jointly conducted the next series on Digital Warehousing and Automation from 10 to 16 March 2021.

The first series of the joint training collaboration was launched on 22 February 2021 by Mr S Iswaran – Singapore Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations and Minister for Information & Communications as well as Mr Piyush Goyal – India Minister of Railways, Minister of Commerce and Industry & Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

At the start of the second series programme, Mr Dave Ng – SLA Chairman encouraged participants to embrace new innovative ideas and be inspired to bring these ideas back to the workplace. He shared that, “In Singapore, the warehousing sector remains a bright spot, despite the economic hardships in the other pillars of economies. At the outset of the pandemic, consumers rushed to retail malls and stockpile daily necessities and food. This rippled through supply chains and companies rushed to stock their supplies. This led to high utilization of warehouse space. So, while retail stores were empty, food and beverage outlets were forced to close, warehouse business enjoyed a brisk growth. In the longer term, the warehousing sector is also poised to undergo major transformations. The catalysts include explosive growth of e-commerce that will require automated fulfilment centers as well as the re-configuration of global supply chain shaped by geopolitical dynamics.”

Mr Eric Tan - Director (Institutional Development) of Singapore-India Partnership Office, Ministry of Trade and Industry, echoed the words of Minister S Iswaran that this collaboration brings together the knowledge and expertise of two of national-level trade associations to propel the logistics industry forward.  It marks yet another milestone in deepening the economic partnership between Singapore and India.

The highly anticipated second series commenced with an E-Forum session on “The Future Warehouse - Trends, Innovations and Opportunities”.
