SPS-YRSG Corporate Advance 2023

The Singapore Prison Service - Yellow Ribbon Singapore (SPS-YRSG) Corporate Advance 2023 was held on 10 May 2023 at Suntec Convention Centre. The event is an annual platform where SPS and YRSG showcase their achievements and announce key initiatives and work plans. In line with the Forward Singapore exercise, its theme for this year is Forward Corrections: Strengthening Partnerships. SLA was invited to attend the event and was represented by Mr Thomas Sim – SLA Council Member and Chairman of HCDC, Mr Eddie Lim – SLA Executive Director and Mrs Chua Li Tzer – Deputy Director, CS & HCD. In its partnership with YRSG, SLA not only facilitate employment opportunities for ex-offenders with its member companies but through its subsidiary, TLA trained the inmates in logistics knowledge and skills.

In his speech, Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law mentioned the success story of 1 ex-offender who attended the TLA Certificate in Logistics Operations while in prison and found a job placement in a logistics company.

Background

On 23 August 2021, SLA and YRSG signed an MOU to enhance the employability of inmates and ex-offenders within the logistics industry through setting up a logistics training centre within the Singapore prisons to conduct of logistics skills training for inmates. SLA will also work closely with member-companies to promote the employment of inmates who have completed the Training Courses conducted in the Prisons. For more details, click here.
