Launch of the Supply Chain Challenge ++ 2024

SLA, together with Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) launched the Supply Chain Challenge (SCC++) 2024 on 25 April 2024. This year's theme, "Adapting and Thriving – Transformative Resilience & Sustainability of Supply Chains", highlights the critical need for innovative solutions in today's challenging business climate. The challenge was officially inaugurated during a virtual event, featuring a welcome speech by SLA Chairman, Mr Dave Ng.

Mr Ng emphasised the pressing need for operational resilience and efficiency amid rising costs and evolving demands from governments, customers and consumers. He highlighted the transformative potential of digital technologies in enhancing sustainability through improved tracking, ethical sourcing and optimised resource use.

The virtual launch was a vibrant assembly, attracting over 120 guests from the logistics industry, academia and students from polytechnics, along with more than 300 students from ITE East College. Prominent attendees included Professor Robbie Goh, Provost of SUSS, who joined the event with industry leaders and aspiring logistics professionals.

Mr Tan Eng Soon, the Lead Coordinator for SCC++, discussed the theme and rules of the challenge, while Associate Professor Tan Yan Weng from SUSS outlined the university's Conditional Offer. This offer includes conditional admission into the full-time Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management program with a Minor for finalists.

Representatives from the following companies presented their business cases, outlining challenges and opportunities for innovation in logistics.

  • Mr Ryan Hoo, Chief Sustainability Officer and Mr Brandon Lee, Sustainability Officer from Call Lade Enterprises Pte Ltd
  • Mr Cheo Thiam Hong, Depot Assistant Manager from CWT Integrated Pte Ltd
  • Mr Roger Chew, Founder from SFS Global Logistics Pte Ltd
  • Mr Chan Shao Yang, Executive, Business Development from YCH Group.

The event also marked the beginning of the #LOGNextGen Instagram Challenge which encourage participants to share their experiences and insights through creative social media posts. The initiative aims to foster engagement and showcase the mentorship and learning journeys of students and professionals alike.

As the competition progresses towards the SCC++ Finals on 31 July 2024 at the SUSS campus, participants will evaluate and develop solutions to the presented business cases, focusing on feasibility, impact and innovation. This year's challenge promises to be an exciting journey of discovery, learning and potential breakthroughs in the logistics industry.
