SLA Business Mission to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam



Recognizing the rising opportunities in Vietnam, SLA organised a business mission to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) in partnership with Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) and Trade Office - Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore from 27 November to 01 December 2019.  The trip was held in conjunction with the 29th Annual General Meeting of the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations.  

The Delegation

Led by Mr Stanley Lim – SLA Chairman for Internationalisation Committee and representing Addicon Logistics Management Pte Ltd, the mission comprised 29 delegates from 13 enterprises as well as the management team for SLA and Enterprise Singapore.  
 
Mission Highlights

Day 1 - The delegates met key officials from the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade and Department of Transport of HCMC to understand HCMC’s logistics infrastructures development plan till 2030. In the evening, Mr Le Duy Hiep – Chairman of VLA and General Director / CEO of Transimex hosted a warm welcome dinner.

Day 2 – The delegates toured the facilities at Transimex Saigon Hi-Tech Park Logistics as well as Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park – VSIP 1 at Binh Duong Province. In the evening, there were sharing of presentations by Orissa International on the art of doing business in Vietnam and VLA on Vietnam’s business regulations. 

Day 3 – The delegates toured Cat Lai Port and partake in business exchanges with representatives from Saigon Newport. There was also an enlightening boat tour along the river-way network to view the main ports of HCMC. 

The detailed presentations, lucid sharing and discussions as well as the boat tour of the ports, all provided good insights on the development and opportunities of the HCMC logistics industry.
